It depends on what games you are talking about, you will not be able to run the latest Battlefield 4 etc since they usually demands a high performance graphics card that supports DirectX11.
VMware Player/Workstation/Fusion is limited to DirectX9.0c and OpenGL 2.1 so this is probably whats stopping you.
What games are you trying and what error-message do you get?
