It boots past the vmware "bios" screen to a black screen with a dash in the upper left corner and sits there. Ive let it sit there for an hour with no progress.

That poses a concern as a downtime might be needed to add a host or remove a host to an EVC cluster. Worst case senerio, take some downtime for the VM's on the host and add remove the hosts to the EVC...
