ESXi Hosts are disconnected from vCenter (5.5)

Hi all,

 

we have a little problem with our vCenter.

We have two host which are connected to the vCenter, unfortunately they are shown as disconnected.

It seems that the problem are the SSL certs on the ESXi hosts which aren't valid anymore.

 

When I replace the old certificates with new ones I have to restart the ESXi Host, am I right?

If so thats the Problem.

We don't use any automatic vMotion and as long as the hosts are not connected to the vCenter I can't move them manually, right?

 

Is it possible to connect the hosts to the vCenter without using SSL?

 

Sorry for my bad english, I am not a nativ speaker.

I am running integrated and it works, But in the Control center I get

and also nsx integration seems to break because of auth problems.(nsx vra integration says

Do I need to add some service account user to the group?

Adding a licence to a Vsphere 6 appliance using Powercli 6 r3

I have been looking around the internet for script that will allow me add a licence into VC, however I can only find information that relates to previous versions of PowerCLI which no longer work with v6 R3. 

 

Any help is appreciated as I have hit a brick wall

初めまして。arubiと申します。

初めて投稿させていただきます。

 

今、あるPCの環境をそのまま仮想化したいと考えており、vmware vcenter converter standaloneを利用して、P2Vを行おうとしております。

 

環境は以下の通りです。

使用ツール：vmware vcenter converter standalone5.5.3

ソース元マシン：windows7 64bit

ターゲットマシン：windows7 64bit

コンバータはソース元マシンにインストールしてあり、

ローカルマシンをソース元に設定してあります。

ターゲットは、vmware仮想マシンにしてあり、LANでつながっている別のPCに仮想マシンを作成しようとしています。

 

ネットワーク形式はNATを選択してあります。

メモリやCPUはそれぞれターゲットマシンの半分くらいを設定しましたが、他は大体デフォルト設定で実行しました。


すると、進行率2%でエラーが発生し、処理失敗してしまいます。


５%まではネットワークやターゲットの容量が原因であることが多いということだったので、以下を確認しましたが、問題ありませんでした。

・pingでネットワーク疎通があるか確認

・ターゲットフォルダの書き込み権限があるか確認

・それぞれのPCのファイアウォールが無効であることを確認

・ターゲットPCが名前解決してない可能性があるため、IPアドレスでパスを設定

・ターゲットPCの容量が十分であることを確認。

 

エラーは、clonefaultと出るだけで、詳細はわかりませんでした。

 

原因となりそうなことがわかる方がいらっしゃいましたら、ご教示いただければと思います。

Hello Roger,

 

It's not a support case, there's no "close" button.

For the record, you can of course open a support case for this, but it will cost money unless you are still within -I think- 30 days of buying VMware Workstation.

 

The forum allows you to assign points to people that help and while I appreciate that, I'm perfectly happy without that as well as I'm not helping out to gather points.

Either way, people can reply with more info at any time later on.

workflow problem, cannot expand vcenter tree

   I followed a VMware Youtube video https://youtu.be/_J5w7Nvv9PQ?list=PLrFo2o1FG9n4mDNlEai02dI50Ae7g598y , developing your first vmware vco workflow, 3 parts. The instructions from Sergio Sanchez are from an earlier version, I'm using vRO v7.0. The workflow checks for power stat of VM and sends an email. If it's already on it sends an email. Not a bad starter workflow.

I get all the way through validation and run the task. The presentation asks for a mandatory input of "select value as," tree. The operator should be able to expand the tree down into the datacenter folders to select the VM. Once, I click the tree, the little arrow on the left disappears and there are no members indented below.

  I run the workflow as a user from the Administrators group. Does this kind of trouble ring a bell with any vCO / vRO scripters?

まずはこちらに従って、トラブルシューティングを実施してみたらいかがでしょうか。

VMware KB: VMware Converter のトラブルシューティング チェックリスト

 

もしこれでもダメな場合は、上記KBに記載されているログを採取してログを見てみたらいかがでしょう。

経験則ですが、Converterは表示されるエラーはほとんど信用できません。ログを見たらもう少し状況が

クリアーになると思います。

Ahh sorry about that. The other two files are below. So I took a look through the files on each of the 4tb drives. It seems in the case of all three hard drives -000004 is the parent of -000002 in all three cases. However after that the chain is broken. Should -000004 link to -000001, which should then link to the base vmdk file?

Thanks forthe script LucD, however I got the warning below:

In a list view, in Group by tab, you can add an instance of a breakdown interval: when you checkit you will have another column in your table with dates on it every Hour, day, month or year. I want to have 5 min.

Hi,

 

I'm also facing similar issue on my ESXi 5.1U3, the below driver is:

Does updating the QLogic Driver resolves this issue ?

or should I just upgrade the whole ESXi with VMware-ESXi-5.1.0-Update3-2323236-HP-510.9.4.24-Nov2015.iso to fix it.

Compact doesn't seem to work

Latest version of Player and Ubuntu 14.4 LTS. It was getting bloated so I cleaned a whole bunch off stuff out and Ubuntu File Manager is now showing, "4.7gb used, 14.2gb free."

 

Player was showing 19.4gb used so I tried "Compact" and it took a few seconds. Then using the "Player/Manage/Virtual Machine Settings" again,  the size is still showing 19.4gb. I tried Defrag and waited seven minutes and still 19.4gb.

 

I'd like to reclaim some of that free space Ubuntu is showing as it will cut down on backup time. Right now it is backing almost 20G of which more than 3/4 is empty space in Ubuntu.

 

How can I get some space back?

 

Are Defrag and Compact not intended for what I think they should be doing from their description?

Ok, I have isolated the issue.

 

In our environment we have multiple comma delimited values within $no_proxy

 

EG:  no_proxy="1.2.3.4,5.6.7.0/24,host.name.com,9.8.7.6"

 

If I strip these and use a single IP address, the VMware View client works fine so it seems it is lacking support to parse a comma delimited list.


I also found that it will not parse IP addresses given in CIDR notation so I cannot bypass an entire IP range either.


Can we have this bug addressed with the Linux Horizon View Client?  Currently it is preventing me from doing a large-scale deployment of the product to all of our workstations.

Urgent help needed!!!, All vm data lost, any way to recover?

I installed Ubuntu 14 using the easy install.  It worked fine.  Did some work, etc,

 

I go to shutdown ubuntu so I can make some vm setting changes.

 

I go to restart the vm.  It now says Operating System not found.

 

I have files on that VM that I urgently need to recover as I have to have them for a job application asap.

 

Does anybody have any ideas how I can recover my data?

 

I've tried forcing the startup disk to be the hd...no luck

 

Any help greatly appreciated.
